We were given vouchers for a free Continental breakfast to help apologize for the construction. My room overlooked the front of the hotel and a nice fountain in addition to the 5 freeway but I never heard the traffic as the hotel must have good sound insulation. I am happy to say that we never needed the earplugs! I never heard any construction. I asked for earplugs and they gave me some. The front desk also told me that construction starts about 8:00 am. There were also signs placed around the property apologizing for the inconvenience. There were obvious signs of construction/renovation as you couldn't miss the scaffolding and traffic cones. The front desk people were very helpful and pleasant and were even able to accommodate my requests as we showed up pretty early for our room around 4:00 pm. I felt extremely welcomed from the time we drove up to the curb at valet (which only costs $2.00 per day and has in and out privileges !), The bellman was right there offering to help us as well.
